What is Tallow?

Tallow is rendered beef fat. Rendering is the process of seperating the fat from the animal tissue. It is slowly cooked down to get a purified oil that is known as Tallow.

Where do you get your Tallow from?

We get our Tallow from Stemple Farms, a local farm in Northern California. The animals free range on a pasture of over 1,000 acres. The farm practices sustainable regenerative farming and consistently incorporates rotational grazing to preserve the land. Most of the pasturing land is certified organic and the cows are never supplemented with any grains and there are absoultuely no hormones, growth proponents, or antibotics used. We love to supporting locally and are always impressed with the quality of their farm.

How long does Tallow last?

Tallow has a very stable shelf life. It does not need to be refrigerated and hardends at room temperature. That being said, we recommend using within 12 months.

Is Tallow safe to use on babies?

Yes! Just like adults, Tallow will help nourish and soothe irritated and dry skin on babies. We make a Naked Tallow balm that is simply our Tallow and Organic Olive Oil- we recommend this blend as some essential oils can be an irritant to sensitive baby skin.

Does Tallow leave you feeling greasy?

No, it does not. Due to the similarities in the saturated fat ratio and the similarities in our sebum (our natural skin oils) and tallow oil our skin is able to absorb the Tallow leaving you feeling moisturized on a deep level.

What can Tallow be used for?

Tallow can be used for so many different purposes. It's an amazing oil that really helps soothe dry and itchy skin. It also aids in healing chapped, cracked, sun damaged, and burned skin. You can use it in your hair, on your lips, as an aftershave, or on the entirety of your body. It replenishes the skin and leaves you feeling radiant.

Organic Grass Fed Tallow

Stemple Creek Ranch is a fourth generation run family ranch in Northern California. They are dedicated to sustainable farming practices and believe that honesty, transparency, and quality are the cornerstones of the work they do. Our Tallow comes from 100% Grass Fed and Grass finished cows with most of the pasture land being certitifed organic and all cows being raised organically. The animals are never supplemented with grains, corn, or soy and NEVER recieve artificial hormones, growth promotants, or antibiotics.

Essential Oils

We source our essential oils from Young Living. Young Living believes in the purity of the oils they produce. That is why they do extensive testing on the oils to guarentee the purity and quality in the oils.

Organic Olive Oil

Our olive oil is organic cold pressed extra virgin oilve oil and comes from a small family owned farm in Northern California. Extra Virigin Oilve oil is rich in vitamin K and E and is known for its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants help protect your cells from damage done by free radicals (compounds that can cause damage to your cells)- so the more antioxidants the better!
